Many appreciated the professional demeanor of staff members and found their trips comfortable overall. However, some noted issues such as a lack of Wi-Fi or non-functional power outlets on board.
I was on my way to the bus, but due to traffic and snowfall, I arrived just five minutes late—something that is not typical for me; I know the importance of being early. I got to the station at 11:25 AM and immediately spoke to the front desk, where I was told the bus had just left. I politely explained my situation, as the bus was still in Saskatoon picking up passengers, I simply asked the man in the office if he could call the driver to see if the bus driver was willing to hold. Without any confirmation or effort from the front desk to check with the driver, I had no way of knowing if I’d just end up stranded there as well. Instead of trying to help, he told me "it was your fault for not arriving earlier" and refused to even make a call.
I take Rider Express regularly and have seen firsthand how accommodating your team is in making sure passengers get on before leaving—sometimes even with a slight delay; (even to the point where we've taken longer breaks due to baby on board). I also never received a call letting me know the bus was about to leave, and I didn’t think to call myself since, from my experience, drivers often wait for passengers. Rider Express’ mission is to provide safe, reliable, comfortable, convenient, and affordable intercity bus service while going above and beyond to raise the quality bar. That’s one of the reasons I’ve trusted and regularly used Rider Express. However, in this situation, I didn’t feel that level of care or commitment to passengers. I'm just upset that the front desk refused to put effort, as I understand that schedules need to be followed, but things happen that people don’t expect. A little empathy in situations like this goes a long way, especially when a passenger is just a few minutes late due to circumstances beyond their control. I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just for someone to at least try to help, given these circumstances.
