Customers have had positive experiences with the train operator, Southern. They appreciate the friendly staff, comfortable rides, and punctuality. However, some passengers found issues with rail replacement services being tiring and difficulties entering crowded platforms due to ticket scanning problems. Overall, Southern is recommended for stress-free travel experiences to Gatwick and Havant.

Only problem we had was inability to go through gate initially. We were early, didn’t realize that ticket wouldn’t scan and open gate until about 20 min before departure. After trying repeatedly to enter, we finally asked attendant who told us to wait 10 minutes and retry. Suggest noting on ticket that departure platforms can be crowded with trains every few minutes, so tickets don’t allow admission until 20 minutes (?) before departure.

Because my flight was delayed, and the Gatwick airport shuttle got stuck, I missed my train by 5 minutes and had to purchase a brand new ticket. I feel that I should have been allowed to use that same ticket being that it was not my fault that I missed my train
